Southbay breaks ground on new logistics development in Hacksta, Västerås

Southbay has now officially broken ground on the development of a state-of-the-art logistics facility in the Hacksta industrial area, Västerås. The project comprises approximately 25,400 sqm and is being developed to the highest sustainability standards, targeting a BREEAM Excellent certification. Completion and tenant move-in are scheduled for autumn 2026.
Of the total area, more than 12,600 sqm remains available for lease and can be fully customized to meet tenant requirements.
“The groundbreaking marks an important milestone for both Southbay and Västerås as a logistics hub. Hacksta is an expanding logistics node with a strong industrial base in the Mälardalen region, and we are pleased to launch the development of a modern and sustainable facility designed to meet future demands. With the current shortage of high-quality logistics space, this project offers a unique opportunity for tenants who require tailored solutions and swift access,” says Felix Paljak, CIO and Partner at Southbay.
Staffan Jansson, Chairman of the Municipal Executive Board in Västerås, welcomes the investment:
“We are very pleased with this development, which strengthens Västerås’ position as a leading logistics hub. The project will not only contribute to the city’s growth but also create new jobs and reinforce the local business community.”
The property is strategically located in the Hacksta industrial area, which in recent years has established itself as an important hub for logistics in the Mälardalen region with a number of larger establishments.
